golden-eagleOn 26 March, 2007 GW Travel launched the $25m Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express, a fully en-suite private train, to serve the world's longest railway line and bring new levels of comfort and service to rail travel in Russia.

The usual 14-night journey starts at Moscow and travels more than 6,000 miles (10,000 kms) to its final destination, Vladivostok, on the Sea of Japan. From Moscow through vast pine forests, over the Ural Mountains and across the Siberian tundra to the Pacific Ocean, the Trans-Siberian railway was built between 1891 and 1916.

The Golden Eagle single ticket will cost up to 9,595 pounds ($23,000) for the 13- to 15-day journey, when ticket on a normal Russian train will cost around $468 for the seven-day nonstop trip. The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express will take double time from Moscow to Vladivostock as it will stop for excursions.
