Buying a Yacht
If you decided to buy a yacht, here are some steps to make it easier and faster. First of all, find company or dealership that sells the range of boats you prefer. Today the number of new boat lines of both power and sail has noticeably increased but you can choose as well as from an extensive list of used boats. If you have a dealer somewhere close to where you live, it is a big benefit and that will save you lots of time.

The next step is choosing your boat. It is a very personal decision. Apparently you wouldn't want to go and buy a racing yacht if you tend to cruise the bay with family.

The third thing you should do is to choose the right gear. Many boats have a standard but excellent gear and electronics, but no doubt you will want to add an item or two to your new boat.

And at last the process of buying the boat. There may be two different scenarios when it comes time to buy the boat, depending on the location of the boat. The first one is that the boat is in stock at the show docks. Most dealers will require a down payment of 10% to start the purchase process, and "close" the financing with 90% of the purchase price within 10 days. The remaining 10% is due on delivery day. The second one is the boat is ordered from the factory. 20% starts the process and the boat is ordered. You close on 80% of the purchase price when the boat ships from the factory. Some dealers can offer you to finance most boats over 20 years. There are also tax benefits to owning a boat whether it is a second home or being placed into charter.

And the most thrilling question is when your boat will be at last ready. Usually if you order lots of gear to install it may take about 6 weeks from the point that she arrives on the docks or at yard. (For boats above 50', it may last for 10 weeks.)
