 Evidence of hotels and the hospitality industry have been recorded as far back as biblical times when Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem during the census and they were refused accommodations because there was no room at the inn. People always traveled for commerce, religion, family, health, immigration, education and recreation.
The first inn in America was built in the year 1607 and sets a trend with many other pioneers in this field of the hospitality industry. In 1792 hotel (the City Hotel) was opened the first publicly inn in New York. In Boston in 1809 the first modern hotel (the Tremont) and in 1908 the first business hotel (the Buffalo Statler) were opened.
From there a flow of hotels flooded the rest of the world with famous names such as Radisson, Marriot and Hilton.
