Galloo Island lies on the eastern side of Lake Ontario, approx. 6 miles from the Canadian border on the American side near the towns of Kingston and Watertown.

The island is an astonishing pretty private island in Lake Ontario that extends over 4.5 miles (7 km) long and up to 1.5 miles (2.5 km) wide.

It offers 10 miles (16 km) of diversified shoreline, 3 miles (5 km) of which are stunning cliffs, some of which have up to 20 meters elevation.

The boats here lay waiting in the picturesque natural harbor. Ideal for bathing are the sandy beaches on the north coast and a wide cove on the northwest coast of the island.

The island is a rather special "El Dorado" for lovers of nature, fishing enthusiasts and hunters. There are herds of whitetail deer graze on the rambling meadows and live in the extensive wooded areas on the island, as well as many other animals: fox, beaver, racoon, pheasants, wild turkeys, Canada geese and various species of duck.

Crystal clear and clean waters of Lake Ontario are renowned among people.

Best time to travel is between May and the end of October. If you are a hunting enthusiast, visit the place in late autumn.

It is very easy to get to the island. From Sackets Harbor there is 12 miles (19 km) by boat.

The island can be reached by yacht from the Atlantic as well.

Accommodation
There are a large guest lodge, 7 bedrooms (2 x king-size, 2 x queen-size, 3 x 2 twin beds) with every room in its own animal theme.

There is a magnificent view from the terrace down to the nearby beach. The kitchen is provided with all modern conveniences in addition to washing machine, dryer, etc.

Dining
you may decide what you prefer most - self-catering or full board. The island manager may stock the refrigerator before your arrival. But you can also bring along your own provisions. Otherwise, a chef and service personnel can be hired on request. You may request a meal including game from the island and fresh fish.

The waters around the island offer superb fishing: salmon, lake and brown trout, small mouth bass and walleyed pike. The following water sports activities are available: 2 motorboats, jet ski, kayak. You may also use the island jeep and 4x4 quads.

Galloo Island is a very famous among the hunting enthusiasts. Herds of prime whitetail deer (up to approx. 450 animals) live on the island as well as pheasants, ducks and wild geese.

Prices vary from USD 19,500 for up to 14 people per week (self-catering), full-board possible to USD 9,000 for long weekend rental.
